Sage Advice Live: Inspiration and guidance on finding (and pursuing) your calling with coach and author Annie Stewart.

Do you find yourself at a crossroads in your life? Do you want to make a switch in your career? Are you wondering what to do next? Well, the good news is, you’re not alone!

If you are seeking clarity on your life calling or feel unsure about your future path, you’ll gain inspiration and reassurance by watching an on-demand recording of our February Sage Advice Live session with coach, author and scholar Annie Stewart.  Annie is also a Sydney-based member of our Second 50 community.

During the hour-long interactive Zoom, Annie explored the essence of ‘callings’ and how to embark on discovering and following your own unique one. Annie emphasised that a calling can occur in the domain of paid work as well as other roles such as a partner or parent, a way of life, social or environmental causes, volunteering or spiritual paths. It’s also possible to have more than one calling.

Sharing personal insights from her own journey, decades of research and coaching countless clients through transitions, Annie outlined the 7 key elements of her Callings Framework and how it empowers women to align who they are with what they do.

During the session some Second 50 members shared stories about their own life transitions. Annie explained why these periods - such as women in midlife - can often feel like a messy middle, when they are in fact a powerful calling.

“When women are in transition, it can feel like a crisis. Reframing it with a mindset that acknowledges that there is a call happening very deep within can give us enormous energy to move to the other side, to become more and to belong in a different way,” she said.

Emphasising the importance for each of us to embrace individual experiences and circumstances without judgment, Annie generously shared some of her own transition challenges and ways she had overcome them.

Second 50 members can watch the recording on-demand and download her book, ‘Career to Calling’ as well as some other helpful tools Annie has gifted to our community to get you started on discovering and following your true purpose.
