An eight-week supported Life Design experience for Second 50 women
12 OCT – 2 DEC 2026
Join our transformative October program to help you make conscious choices about how you want to live.
Expert Life Design, held the Second 50 way
Second 50 Life Design brings Gill McLaren’s proven Think.Plan.Live. methodology into a flexible, supported community experience created around the realities and possibilities of women in midlife.
You will move through the Life Design learning pathway in your own time, with thoughtful guidance and other Second 50 women travelling alongside you — bringing stories and perspectives that can help you see what is sometimes difficult to see alone.
Their lives may look different from yours, but many of the questions will feel familiar. You can join the conversation, listen quietly or find your own way somewhere in between.

Nothing has to be wrong to know that your life wants your attention
Perhaps you are moving through a visible transition, or maybe nothing is obviously wrong, but the life that once fitted no longer feels quite right. You don’t need to reinvent yourself or have a perfect plan. Sometimes you simply need the space to pause, listen to what is stirring and become curious about what might come next.
Second 50 Life Design is not about starting again. It’s about designing forward, with all your experience, wisdom and possibility to draw upon. For some women, Life Design lights up a significant change. For others, it reveals a few small shifts that change how everyday life feels.
- 01
Understand yourself
Reconnect with your values, recognise your natural strengths and notice what gives (or takes) your energy.
- 02
Make conscious choices
Know what feels authentically yours and make decisions with greater self-trust.
- 03
Turn insight into life
Create an individualised plan and use small experiments to make room for what matters.
Five steps to help you shape what comes next
Each step adds another piece to the picture. Move through them in sequence, return to the ones that speak most strongly to you, and take the learning at your own pace.

1. Values
Reconnect with what matters most to you and use it as an inner compass for what comes next.

2. Strengths
Recognise what comes naturally to you, helps you thrive and can support the life you want to shape.

3. Energy
Notice what gives you energy, what drains it and how this influences the way your life feels.

4. Life Wheel
Step back and see where your life feels aligned, stretched or ready for more attention.

5. Life Integration
Connect the dots and find practical ways to bring more of what matters into your life.
Within each step, Gill introduces the ideas and guides you through a practical tool. You’ll have time to notice what emerges, hear how other women are making sense of their own discoveries and try small experiments in your life.
This is not a formula for somebody else’s version of a good life. It is a way to discover what fits you.
As little as an hour a week can be enough to gain real value
This is not another test of how much you can fit into your life. You can engage quietly, return after a busy week and still carry something meaningful forward.
Explore a short lesson, reflect on what it brings up, then try one tiny experiment in your everyday life. Life Design is not about completing more. It is about noticing more and gradually bringing what matters into the way you live.

Expert Life Design, supported the Second 50 way
Gill’s methodology provides a clear pathway through your values, strengths, energy and whole-of-life picture. Second 50 creates a supportive environment to engage with the learning, hear different perspectives and bring what you discover into your life.
- Short, self-paced lessons let you do the work in small, manageable steps, with plenty of room for life along the way.
- Weekly encouragement, shared prompts and live conversations create a supportive rhythm without pressure. If life interrupts, you can pause and return when you’re ready.
- Reflect and learn alongside thoughtful women, share only what feels right and join an optional Life Design Trio if you value closer connection and accountability.
Meaningful work doesn’t have to feel heavy. This is about curiosity, conversation, shared recognition, and plenty of laughter along the way.

What women say about the Second 50 Life Design experience
“What I've been most grateful for is the collective wisdom of this amazing group of women. I feel very, very blessed to have had this opportunity.”
“I realised I wasn't looking for more time. I was looking for more energy for myself… It has changed how I think about the future.”
“I went into Life Design knowing that I was yearning for change. I emerged with a plan, a shift and a strengthened resolve.”
“There were so many unique insights and individual journeys, but it also felt like we were all in the same boat. It was such a powerful investment of time and thought with a great bunch of women who only want the best for each other.”
How Second 50 Life Design came to life
Second 50 Life Design is a wonderful example of how ideas grow within our community—women share what they know, step forward generously and create something together that none of us could create alone.
Gill brought her proven Think.Plan.Live. methodology and a desire to make Life Design more widely available. Carolyn Betts brought the Second 50 context, and a deep understanding of the questions, transitions and possibilities midlife women are navigating.

Gill McLaren and Carolyn Betts,
co-creators of Second 50 Life Design
What began with Gill sharing her expertise through conversations, Sage Advice Live events and workshops grew into our first multi-week programs. Second 50 women took part with curiosity and openness, sharing their stories, meeting in Trios and offering honest feedback about what made the learning come alive.
Together, we created a distinctive Life Design journey for Second 50 women. The collaboration also helped Gill develop a self-paced course to share beyond our community — a meaningful example of what becomes possible when women contribute, learn and create together.
